Whale Watching in San Francisco

Whale watching in San Francisco is a popular activity for people visiting California.

Whale watching boat trips and excursions are available all along the San Francisco Bay Area and further north and south along the coast.

Some of the most popular places for whale watching in San Francisco and the surrounding area are the Farallon Islands, Point Reyes, and Monterey.

Whales migrate along the California coast at different times of year. Blue Whales can be sighted from July through October, Humpback Whales from July through November, and Gray Whales from October through December and again in the spring. Occasionally Orcas (Killer Whales) are spotted along the coast as well.

In addition to whales, marine animals like sea lions, dolphins, and porpoises can be seen while whale watching in San Francisco.
